Dancers training indoors in the winter may have vitamin D3 deficiencies due to inadequate sunlight exposure. This can impact muscular strength and power. Does supplementation help?
Elite dancers from a professional ballet company were given daily vitamin D3 supplements for four months and compared to a no-supplementation control group. Supplemention resulted in an increase in dancers’ muscular power. At post-asssessment, supplementation accounted for over 30% of the variance in vertical jump height.
